The Pleasant Grove Recreation Department has teamed up with the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources to offer a community youth fishing program. This program is open to all youth ages 7 through 14 years old. This program will educate youth on casting, knot tying, proper use of fishing equipment, fish biology and diversity, aquatic ecology, water cycle and quality, fisheries management and ethics, fishing opportunities in Utah and most importantly- FUN!
Classes will be held on Wednesdays from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM, for six weeks, beginning April 10 and ending May 15 with a "fish fry". Each class is 90 minutes, with the first half hour instructing participants on the above mentioned topics and the last 60 minutes, fishing. Classes will be held at the Manila Creek Pond, located at 3300 North 900 West. The Manila Creek pond is stocked with Rainbow Trout and Blue Gill. The supervisor, Shaun Hemenway along with the dedicated hunter volunteers will be working with the participants in groups of five or six. This is a great chance to experience Utah’s fabulous outdoors. All equipment is available for use.
